The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) section offers an assistant professor position (tenure-track) in Digital Health, with a specific focus on the role of data. The position consists of teaching (40%), research (40%) and organization/management (20%). Digitalization is driving innovation in healthcare. To create system-level innovations in healthcare (e.g. patient-centred care or healthy living), data is an important driver. Data could come from care providers (e.g. hospitals), patients (e.g. IoT or wearables) or other stakeholders (e.g. IT providers). Stakeholders often have different interests. Solutions need to address multiple values, such as efficiency, safety, privacy and quality of care. The ICT section is a fast-growing group with a notable international reputation, which is driven by a high degree of interdisciplinary collaboration. Notable examples are connected and autonomous vehicles, smart energy grids, digital healthcare, smart cities and digital public services (GovTech). The ICT section is involved in one teaching program at the Bachelor level and three programs at the Master level. We teach students to contribute to ICT-related societal challenges with a comprehensive system perspective that considers technical, actor, and institutional aspects. Your ambition is to contribute to solving systemic problems in healthcare through digitalization and data sharing between industries. Potential focus areas are healthy living and data sharing between health and other industries (e.g. food). Your research interests relate to digital systems for healthcare (e.g. data infrastructures, service platforms, analytics). You are interested in socio-technical research, addressing issues of governance (e.g. access and decision rights) and/or technology (e.g. machine learning, privacy-preserving technologies, blockchain). You have an interest in doing interdisciplinary research. The research should be engineering or design-oriented, or produce actionable insights. You evaluate your solutions in the light of societally relevant values, which could be security, safety, efficiency, quality of care, privacy, innovation potential or others. You will teach and develop courses on digitalization and digital healthcare. You will contribute to the collaborative mentality of the department through teaching, research, creativity and management skills. Depending on your expertise, you will contribute to teaching digitalization in general, and digital healthcare in particular. In addition, you will supervise students during their BSc and MSc graduation projects on themes related to your expertise. This position is part of the 4TU programme entitled ‘High-tech & data-driven agri-food system of the future’. There will be close cooperation with the 4TU researchers, industry partners and government stakeholders involved in this programme. As part of the program, there are five tenure track positions.
