Qualification Details

You are an ambitious and enthusiastic scientist. Your profile should signal:

  • A PhD degree in an NMR/MRI-related field with experience working with pulse sequence development and implementation, preferably on high-field Bruker NMR spectrometers;
  • research experience and familiarity with pre-clinical studies;
  • a strong motivation to work flexibly and creatively in a cross-disciplinary environment;
  • very good communications skills and ability to interact constructively with physicists, chemists, engineers and technicians;
  • a good command of the English language.

Responsibilities/Job Description

Our focus is on the implementation of microimaging methods in high-/ultra-high-field NMR spectrometers, with the ultimate goal to boost sensitivity, spatial and chemical resolution in pre-clinical MRI studies of small-volume soft biological materials or living systems, such as organelles. We invite applications for a post-doctoral position of 1 year, with possible extension by 1 extra year, based at the Laboratory of Biophysics at Wageningen University (WU), and integrated within the Dutch National uNMR-NL consortium. The challenging scope of this post-doc position is the implementation and optimization of MRI pulse sequences (e.g. CEST imaging, susceptibility-weighted imaging, imaging with X-nuclei, MR spectroscopy, etc) for high-to-ultra-high field (600-1200 MHz) applications of microimaging to pre-clinical studies, in collaboration with Utrecht University and Radboud University. This position will cover both method developments in the field of pre-clinical MRI and related application support, also across the consortium, with particular focus on troubleshooting and optimizing experimental conditions for MRI measurements at ultra-high magnetic fields. As post-doc, you will be based in Wageningen, though we expect you to travel to other universities in the consortium to use the ultra-high field spectrometers and cooperate with other post-docs deployed within the project.

The position is intended to be filled latest by early 2022.  We are also looking for a Postdoc on flow-MRI and microfluidics at high-/ultra-high fields. CLICK HERE to go to this vacancy.
