Qualification Details
We are looking for a candidate who holds (or expects to get soon) a PhD degree in Logistics / Freight Transport or strongly related fields such as Operations Management, Industrial Engineering / Supply Chain Management, or Applied Operations Research with a focus on Logistics. Preferences are given to candidates with an interdisciplinary track record. Topics that we are interested in are positioned at the system level; an example would be "how could we model, analyse and plan large-scale logistics problems considering the technological, system level characteristics of infrastructure and transport networks?" Supported by your colleagues, you will teach and develop educational courses in the domain of logistics. We also expect you to design a new BSc course on Comprehensive Systems Engineering (strengthening the link between our three BSc domain tracks, and our MSc programes). We expect the candidate to have an appreciation of scientific and engineering challenges in the intersection of transport, energy and ICT systems. Responsibilities/Job Description
The department contributes to one BSc and three MSc programmes at the TPM Faculty and to three joint MSc programmes with other faculties at TU Delft. ESS hosts scholars focusing on transport & logistics, energy & industry and ICT & AI. Research and education is taking place at the system (of systems) level of these domains using systems engineering methodologies such as decision analysis, choice modelling, and agent-based modeling. The heart of of our research and education is to analyse and design the socio-technical characters of systems; we refer to this as Comprehensive Systems Engineering. A team of educational advisors and first class (digital) infrastructure support our teaching activities. As a tenure tracker with emphasis on education, you will embark on a development path which may in due time result in an associate or full professor appointment, with emphasis on education.
In this position, which consists of teaching (60%), education management (20%) and research (20%), you will be expected to:- Contribute to the educational programmes of the department, with particular focus on logistics and comprehensive system engineering.- Supervise BSc and MSc graduation projects on themes related to your expertise.- Contribute to the organization and management of education in the department.- Perform research in the field of logistics- Interact with a range of national and international stakeholders including transport & logistics, energy & industry, and ICT experts, external partners as well as policy makers

Conditions of employment
A tenure-track position is offered for six years. In the fifth year we’ll decide if you will be offered a permanent faculty position, based on performance indicators agreed upon at the start of the appointment. We expect that you have the potential to grow towards an Associate Professor and/or Full Professor role in the future.
