Qualification Details

  • Proven experience with change projects;
  • Booster of optimizations and organizational changes;
  • Knowledge and experience with (administrative) educational support is a plus;
  • A natural, enthusiastic leader who possesses empathy, persuasiveness and the ability to bind people together;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Good oral and written command of the Dutch and English languages (B1 or B2 which is desirable for this position);
  • Higher Education.

Responsibilities/Job Description

We are looking for a colleague who will shape high quality, professional services for students and lecturers within an informal, personal culture. We attach great value to customer orientation, learning ability and cooperation. Two criteria are leading for the choices to be made: (1) operational excellence and (2) customer intimacy. This means that the support is harmonized with respect to processes and systems, close to the students and teachers.

Cooperation is part of the support organization’s DNA. Partitions between Departments and between Departments and the central service have increasingly been broken down. We regard educational support as a university-wide task, whereby services are offered by coordinated process chains, and all educational support staff are part of ESA and strongly involved in education, students and lecturers. Within ESA there are 'short lines of communication', 'cooperation' and 'sharing information, knowledge and experience' between employees.

As team manager, you will work on the further development of the Study Progress team (35 people).  This is a broad position in which you will be given the opportunity to lead your team. We find it very important that the team managers dares to work independently, whereby you, together with the ESA managers and the process chain responsible manager, will work on increasing our support in which high-quality service is offered at a cost-efficient effort.

You will meet regularly with ESA managers, exam committee chairs, students and lecturers to gather information about the quality of service. You ensure innovation in work processes, use your organizational sensitivity to break down resistance and drive improvement.

For the ESA department, we are looking for a team manager for 0,8-1.0 fte.

Other responsibilities you will have as a team manager:

  • Shaping the development mission with respect to:
    • Management and organization (team development plan)
    • Processes (operational excellence and customer intimacy)
    • Culture (open, learning culture);
  • Further develop Strategic Workforce Planning of the team;
  • Daily leadership/coordination of the team;
  • Maintain communication with ESA managers;
  • Maintain good alignment with process chain manager;
  • Drive quality, resource and customer focus of service and execution of work of the team;
  • Lead small projects focused on efficient, high quality and growth orientated and customer oriented processes.

About the Department of Education and Student Affairs

The department of Education and Student Affairs (ESA) is the central service point for lecturers and (prospective) students of the Eindhoven University of Technology and provides a range of services in the field of educational support, educational logistics, study skills, career guidance, use of ICT tools in education, professional skills and language education. In addition, ESA supports the Executive Board, the Deans of the Bachelor's College and the Graduate School, as well as the faculties in the areas of educational policy, laws and regulations, quality assurance, educational and institutional accreditation, educational innovation and internationalization.

Within the TU/e, all education support is accommodated in the ESA department with within it the Center for Student Administration where all administrative processes for the education of the TU/e are carried out.

  • This is a temporary contract for the period of one year with a view to a permanent contract after one year;
  • The salary, depending on knowledge and experience, is at least € 3.821 and maximum € 5.230 gross per month (scale 11 CAO Dutch Universities);
