Qualification Details

  • BSc or (preferably) MSc degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with PCB design CAD tools.
  • Knowledge of 3D printing.
  • Experience with Matlab, Labview and Python.

Responsibilities/Job Description

In the role of support engineer at the Department of Microelectronics of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science of Delft University of Technology, you will actively supporting students and university staff with the design and testing of integrated circuits and microfabricated systems. The department operates at the forefront of research related to: (5G) communication, (car) radars, smart (bio) sensors, bioelectronics, and analogue/digital / mixed-signal (VLSI) circuits. Advanced packaging, measurement and post-processing techniques and equipment need to be specified, assembled, calibrated and maintained to support the research in these fields. In particular, support in the field of bioelectronics will require development of skills in encapsulation and packaging, post-processing of circuits and microfabricated systems, preparation of devices for in vitro and in vivo tests, and development of demonstrator prototypes.

As a support engineer you will:

  • Actively assist students and university staff with the design of circuits at the PCB level for the verification/testing of analog, digital and mixed-signal integrated circuits.
  • Plan and support on the measurement and characterization of developed integrated circuits and microfabricated systems.
  • Specify, maintain and calibrate all the necessary laboratory equipment, materials and component stock.
  • Assist in all necessary packaging and wire bond assembly of the implemented ICs and microfabricated systems.
  • Assist in post-processing, encapsulation and demonstration of bioelectronics circuits and systems.

Your skills include:

  • A strong team and learn-on-the-job mentality applied in a diverse international setting.
  • Proficiency in Dutch in both written and oral communication.
  • Experience with PCB CAD tools such as Kicad or Altium.
  • A multi-disciplinary mindset
