  • You are in the final phase of your Bachelor's programme or have just started a Master's programme (law at the UvA, preferably);
  • You like to arrange things, are proactive and enterprising;
  • You like to take care of a space and transform it into a pleasant workspace;
  • You are interested in innovation, access to law and technology;
  • You have very good oral and written expression skills, including English;
  • You easily connect with others and are not afraid to write to strangers;

What are you going to do

The Amsterdam Law Hub is a space for co-creation of innovative legal solutions. In the heart of Amsterdam, we bring together a community of students, researchers, activists, start-ups, designers and legal partners to solve legal problems. We form the connection between top academic talent at the University of Amsterdam and society. We are the Amsterdam Law Hub: just bridge builders of the 21st century.

The Amsterdam Law Hub is a workspace for various organisations working on access to justice. In the Law Hub, consultation hours are also held for various law shops, and we develop experiential education, such as the Justice Entrepreneurship course. In addition, we work together with the Municipality of Amsterdam and the Legal Aid Board to improve access to justice. We often and gladly involve students in this.

As a student assistant, you will get a hands-on part-time job within the Amsterdam Law Hub team where you will support us in many of these activities. The emphasis will be on managing a pleasant Hub space for all tenants and making the connection with the student community of the UvA and beyond.

Your responsibilities will be:

  • Maintaining the Law Hub tenant community, including managing reservations of the (meeting) space, keeping track of mail, providing access passes, familiarizing new (co)workers, cleaning up clutter and watering plants;
  • Help with the organisation of events, such as tenant drinks, the Amsterdam Law Hub Open House, the Incuboater, opening women's law shops, start-up events, conferences and workshops;
  • Connecting with student groups, such as study associations, student associations and other student initiatives to involve them in the Law Hub activities;
  • Maintaining the Amsterdam Law Hub email inbox;
  • Administrative support for the course Justice Entrepreneurship.

We offer part-time (1.5-2 days) employment for the 12-month period with a one-month probationary period, effective August 1, 2022.

Depending on your academic year, your salary is €2,310 to €2,511 gross per month based on full working time (38 hours per week), excluding 8% holiday and 8.3% end-of-year bonus. The Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities applies.
