Qualification Details

Experience and preferred skills:

  • Strong expertise in Javascript, Typescript, HTML and CSS
  • Hands-on experience with React JS
  • Hands-on experience in interfacing with REST services

Experience in any of the following areas would be a plus:

  • Experience building containerized applications with Docker
  • Experience in querying data using ElasticSearch

Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science or similar fields
  • English written and spoken

Responsibilities/Job Description

The aim of the EPFL Blue Brain Project (BBP), a Swiss brain research initiative founded and directed by Professor Henry Markram, is to establish simulation neuroscience as a complementary approach alongside experimental, theoretical and clinical neuroscience to understanding the brain, by building the world’s first biologically detailed digital reconstructions and simulations of the mouse brain.Blue Brain’s Data and Knowledge Engineering team is building a Knowledge Graph used to perform large-scale semantic and spatial data integration, exploration, inference and access within 3D Brain Atlases to support biologically detailed digital reconstructions and simulations of the mouse brain.To strengthen its Data and Knowledge Engineering team, BBP is looking for a Software Engineer, Frontend Web Developer W/M - 6 months contract (up to 8 months) to work on an interactive web application built off BBP Knowledge Graph and allowing BBP scientists to search, explore, analyze and visualize scientific datasets through 3D brain atlas.Main duties and responsibilities include :

  • Gather user needs and translate them into system design and implementation requirements
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of an interactive web application allowing BBP scientists to search, explore, analyze and visualize scientific datasets through 3D brain atlas
  • Implement and deliver production quality code following best-practices for maintainable software development
