Qualification Details

Candidates for the position of senior lecturer must meet the following requirements.

  • Completed doctorate PhD or equivalent scientific qualification, or other professional abilities relevant to the subject matter of the post and the duties of the position.
  • Demonstrated expertise in teaching skills.
  • Completed higher education pedagogy training of at least five weeks or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge.

The assessment is based on the degree of scientific, pedagogical, administrative and other skills relevant to the subject matter and duties of the position, as well as a general personal ability to carry out the duties of the position well.

Responsibilities/Job Description

The position includes 50% teaching, 20% research and 30% course development (expressed as a percentage of the position's total duties).

The position includes course development, teaching and examination of the following Yiddish courses. All courses are given in English and are distance learning courses:

HT 2022YIDD10, Yiddish: Beginner's Course I, 15 credits

YIDC03, Jewish Cultural Responses to the Holocaust, 15 credits

VT 2023YIDD20, Yiddish: Beginner's Course II, 15 credits

YIDC02, The Golden Age of Yiddish Film: An Introduction to Jewish Culture, 15 credits

Previous experience with distance learning and teaching similar courses are useful qualifications for this position.Any paid holiday leave incurred must be taken within the period of employment. If research is part of the position's duties, any research carried out must be reported in the Humanities and Theology Faculty's research reporting system before the conclusion of the employment period.

.Appointments are made by Assistant Head of Department Marianna Smaragdi after consultation with Head of Section Johanna Lindbladh and Director of Studies Marina Andersson.

The Joint Faculties of the Humanities and Theology have eight departments and carries out large and varied work within research and education with the purpose to understand people as cultural and social beings. The faculties have around 700 employees and around 4000 students.

The Centre for Languages and Literature at Lund University (SOL) is Sweden’s largest university department for languages, linguistics, literature and area studies. SOL provides a wide range of freestanding courses complemented with an increasing number of first and second cycle degree programmes. Housing 33 subjects and roughly the same number of PhD programmes, SOL is a solid foundation for broad and deep education and research, characterised by national and international visibility. SOL is managed by a board chaired by the Head of Department. The management also includes two assistant heads of department with special areas of responsibility. More than 250 people are employed and around 3 000 students, including around 100 PhD students, conduct their studies at SOL.
