Qualification Details

Eligible to be employed as a senior lecturer is a person who has demonstrated pedagogical skills, completed a doctoral degree or has equivalent scientific competence with regard to the employment's subject content and the tasks to be included in the employment.

According to Linnaeus University's employment regulations, the pedagogical skills must refer to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of teaching, as well as supervision and examination.

To be eligible for this position, the applicant must have a doctorate in mathematics and competence in numerical methods for differential equations. In addition, the applicant should be able to conduct teaching in English.

Assessment criteria:

The applicant is expected to have documented experience of research in numerical methods for stochastic differential equations or numerical methods for differential equations with uncertainty in the coefficients.

It is essential that the applicant has

  • scientific skill in numerical analysis for partial differential equations, demonstrated through publications in high quality international journals
  • documented pedagogical skills in numerical analysis, stochastic processes, or probability theory, including teaching of high quality and to a significant extent at the undergraduate or advanced level.

The assessment of the pedagogical skills shall be given as much weight as the assessment of the scientific skills.

Additional merits that are included in the assessment are documented experience of developing and leading operations and personnel.

When the university employs new teachers, the applicants must be selected who, through a qualitative overall assessment of competence and skill have the best conditions to carry out and develop current tasks and contribute to a successful development of the university.

Responsibilities/Job Description

The assignments include planning, teaching and examination of courses in mathematics as well as supervision of degree projects at bachelor's and master's level. The work also includes conducting own research work within numerical methods for stochastic processes and participating in and initiating new research projects.

About the Department

We are now strengthening the Faculty of Technology at Linnaeus University with a senior lecturer in mathematics.

The Department of Mathematics is responsible for three different educational programs with mathematics as a major: Applied Mathematics (bachelor's program), Mathematics and Modelling (master's program), and a Master of Science program in Engineering Mathematics. In addition to these programs, we are responsible for mathematics and mathematics didactics in about 20 educational programs.

The employment will strengthen and complement research and education in numerical methods for stochastic processes. The research is linked to the group Stochastic Analysis and Stochastic Processes at the Department of Mathematics and the group Deterministic and Stochastic Modeling within Linnaeus University Center for Data Intensive Sciences and Applications (DISA).
