Qualification Details

  • PhD in animal breeding or related field
  • Record of research in applied genetics

Responsibilities/Job Description

QGG offer an exciting position in the intersection between applied research and research based policy support. The candidate will be involved in applied research within animal breeding in general, but with a focus on utilizing information from various monitoring (sensor, imaging) technologies  to asses new important phenotypes.This is a permanent position from June 1st or as soon possible.

Job description

For the initial period, focus will be on utilizing large-scale methane measurements in genetic studies of ongoing projects, which needs substantial coordinating with partners (research groups, farmers, industry and funding bodies). The candidate will also contribute to attracting funding for relevant research within this area and act as a project coordinator.The candidate will also be the key person for organizing and coordinating QGG’s research based policy support. In this area, the candidate will lead QGG’s policy support committee and be the quality control manager.

Center for Quantitative Genetics and Genomics

The institute like center, QGG, is a major center for research and education in quantitative genetics and quantitative genomics (www.qgg.au.dk/en) at Aarhus University. We perform basic and applied research within livestock and plant breeding as well as human applications within precision medicine. The research within QGG is characterized by a very close synergy between method development, basic analysis and application of the developed methods on practical problems across species in collaboration with industry partners. QGG is an international research cCenter with about 70 employees and visiting researchers from over 15 nations. QGG works in teams and strive for an excellent working environment. Place of work and area of employment

The place of work is Ole Worms Alle 3, 8000 Aarhus C and the area of employment is Aarhus University with related departments. From 1 June 2022 the Center will move to a new location within Campus in Aarhus and the place of work will be C.F. Møllers Alle 3, 8000 Aarhus C.

Technical Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
