Responsibilities/Job Description

  • The position is a part of the research project ParAnthropE (Anthropogenic Parasite Evolution), financed by the Research Council of Norway. The main goal is to test how the conditions typical of intensive food production – a major human activity worldwide - affect the evolution of parasite life history and virulence; we do so by means of experimental evolution, using the salmon louse Lepeophtheirus salmonis as a model of horizontally, directly-transmitted parasite.
  • The candidate is expected to help collect longitudinal data and assign parentage in experimental populations of parasites. We are therefore looking for someone with a solid experience with empirical evolutionary research involving parasites, systematic data collection, and molecular labwork.
  • The project is a collaboration between leading evolutionary biologists based in Bergen, Montpellier, Basel and Oslo. The candidate will mostly based at UiB while in contact with the larger international team.
