Qualification Details

Eligible to be employed as a researcher is a person who has a Swedish doctoral degree or has a foreign degree that is deemed to correspond to a doctoral degree.

We are looking for a candidate who have shown scientific skill in the subject areas of nanomagnetism, spintronics, and clean-room processing and microwave characterization of spin Hall nano-oscillators. The scientific skills are mainly assessed based on peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals as well as lectures at international conferences.

Responsibilities/Job Description

The main tasks are research. The tasks include studying so-called spintronic oscillators using resistance and microwave measurements and collaborating with other researchers in the group on optical measurements. You will develop and characterize Ising machines based on spintronic oscillators. You will work with doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows, and other researchers. You are expected to write scientific articles based on your results, possibly apply for patents on your results, as well as contribute to other people's scientific articles. You are also expected to present your results at scientific conferences.

How to Apply?

Application Method: Online Application
Ref. No.: PAR 2022/908

Application Procedure

In order to apply for a position at the University of Gothenburg, you have to register an account in our online recruitment system. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the application is complete in accordance with the instructions in the job advertisement, and that it is submitted before the deadline. The application shall include:

  • Cover letter with an explanation of why you apply for the position
  • CV including scientific publications
  • Copy of exam certificate
  • Two referees (name, telephone no, relation)

About the Research Group

One of the most successful research areas at the department is spintronics with a focus on magnetodynamic phenomena in thin magnetic films and spintronic components and their possible applications. We study these components with magnetic, electrical and optical methods, and model them using GPU-accelerated micromagnetic simulations. Johan Åkerman's research group is running a major project funded by an ERC Advanced Grant where new ways of using spintronic devices for neuromorphic calculations is one of the main goals. The department is therefore looking for a Researcher to drive this project forward.
