Qualification Details

To qualify for an employment as a researcher, the applicant must hold a doctor’s degree or a foreign qualification deemed equivalent to a doctorate, in neuroscience, preferably in neurophysiology.

Essential skills are:

- Practical experience with primary cell culture, particularly muscle cells and neurons, as well as microscopy.

- An ability to work effectively, independently and a willingness to learn new skills and techniques.

- Strong English skills with a documented track record of scientific publications in international, peer reviewed journals.

- Proficiency in programming using Matlab, python and strong familiarity with Linux.

- Strong skills in experimental design and interpretation, and scientific writing.

-Documented courses in experimental animal work (Felasa C or similar) as well as practical skills in electrophysiology are also highly valued.

Additional qualifications Completed postdoctoral fellowship and/or researcher position in neurophysiology.

Responsibilities/Job Description

The project focuses on working with a biologically relevant in vitro neuromuscular junction on an innovative microelectrode array chip as a model system for studying neuromuscular physiology and disorders.

About the Department

The research at the Department of Clinical Neurophysiology focuses on improving diagnostic and monitoring tools in neuromuscular disorders, including biomarkers and neurophysiology, both in vivo and in vitro, as well as new treatment options. Dr Punga holds several highly competitive national research grants from the Swedish Research Council and was recently awarded Göran Gustafsson's major medicine award for the research group's studies in the neuromuscular disease myasthenia gravis (MG). Dr. Punga's team has pioneered research in the field of microRNA biomarkers in MG and has several publications on this subject.
