Qualification Details

We are searching for a candidate with a PhD exam in immunology and experience of research on human thymus. Knowledge in and experience of FACS-analysis, cell sorting, confocal microscopy, RNA/DNA-sequencing and laser dissection is essential. Proficiency in spoken and written English is required, and knowledge in Swedish is of benefit. The candidate shall be able to autonomously plan, perform and analyse the experiments.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability as collaborative skills, analytical capacity and communicative capacity. Good knowledge of English is required, and knowledge of Swedish is an advantage.

Responsibilities/Job Description

The candidate will work on transcriptional and functional analyses of human thymocytes, B-cells and thymic stromal cells, both descriptive methodology like single-cell RNA sequencing and functional immunological assays are included in the assignments. Further, the candidate is expected to perform statistical analyses and present the results in written text and orally.

About the Department

At the Department of Rheumatology and Inflammation Research, at the Institute of Medicine, the main research areas are inflammation and inflammatory diseases irrespective of whether they are caused by allergies, infections or are autoimmune diseases. The aim is to investigate the underpinning mechanisms behind the inflammation. Several of our researchers also work as senior consultants at the clinics at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, which is a great advantage especially for translational research.

The research group in focused on research about the thymus and the role in immune regulation. In the specific project, the characteristics and function of human thymic B-cells are studied.
