Qualification Details

Required qualifications for the position are:

  • A PhD degree within the subject of the position.
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
  • Very good knowledge in microbiology.

Very good ability to perform Illumina MiSeq analysis and associated bioinformatic data analysis. Documented ability to conduct research focusing on intestinal flora and probiotics. Experience of experimental animal studies. Good ability to perform scientific writing.

Additional qualifications for the position are:

Approved course in probiotics, e.g. KLGN01. Good ability to perform quantitative PCR analysis. Experience of analysing blood-, saliva- and organ samples.

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

Responsibilities/Job Description

The research focuses on analysis of the composition of the microbiota and its connection to immunological reactions in health and disease, which are evaluated in samples from clinical and experimental studies.

Work duties include:

Completion of one clinical trial and two experimental studies and comprises handling of samples and written information from participants, as well as handling and sampling of experimental animals. The assignments further include evaluation of bacterial diversity in complex communities and species identification using Next Generation Sequencing and bioinformatics, quantification of bacterial groups by quantitative PCR and analysis of inflammatory markers.

The assignments also include participation in teaching.

The research performed in the group has been pioneering in development probiotics and the group has a close collaboration within both industry and academia.
