Qualification Details

Eligible to be employed as a researcher is a person who has a Swedish doctoral degree or has a foreign degree that is deemed to correspond to a doctoral degree.

We are looking for candidates who have shown scientific skill in the subject areas of nanomagnetism, spintronics, and clean-room processing and microwave characterization of spin Hall nano-oscillators down to the 10 nm size range. The scientific skills are mainly assessed based on peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals as well as lectures at international conferences. Unpublished results from your own ongoing research may be included if relevant to the exact topics of the position.

Responsibilities/Job Description

The main tasks are research. The tasks include depositing and characterizing magnetic thin films, fabricating spin Hall nano-oscillators based on these films, and finally characterizing the microwave signal properties of these devices using electrical microwave measurements. You are expected to collaborate with other researchers in the group on optical measurements of your devices. You will work with doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows, and other researchers. You are expected to write scientific articles based on your results, possibly apply for patents on your results, as well as contribute to other people's scientific articles. You are also expected to present your results at scientific conferences.

How to Apply?

Application Method: Online Application
Ref. No.: PAR 2022/441

Application Procedure

Please apply online

The application shall include:

  • Cover letter with an explanation of why you apply for the position
  • CV including scientific publications
  • Copy of exam certificate
  • Two referees (name, telephone no, relation)

About the Group

One of the most successful research areas at the department is spintronics with a focus on magnetodynamic phenomena in thin magnetic films and spintronic components and their possible applications. We study these components with magnetic, electrical and optical methods, and model them using GPU-accelerated micromagnetic simulations. Johan Åkerman's research group is running a major project funded by an ERC Advanced Grant where new ways of using spintronic devices for neuromorphic calculations is one of the main goals. The department is therefore looking for a Researcher to drive this project forward.
