We are seeking an ambitious mid-career researcher who aims to pursue an academic career in an internationally renowned research environment at the Department of Soil & Environment, SLU, Sweden.
The candidate who is offered the position
- Shall have a PhD degree in soil or environmental science, earth sciences, ecology, agronomy or similar.
- Shall have the ability to independently initiate, conduct, and complete tasks.
- Shall have experience in project coordination, especially in environmental sciences.
- Should have experience in communicating with international researchers and profound organizational skills.
- Should have good ability in English both orally and written.
We will lay emphasis on personal characteristics, ability to work in a team, independence, as well as initiative and organizational ability.
Responsibilities/Job Description
We are seeking a researcher to support management of databases of SLU:s long-term field experiments (https://www.slu.se/en/departments/soil-environment/research/soil-nutrient-cycling/slu-field-research-plant-nutrition/) and to work within the EJP SOIL program (https://ejpsoil.eu/).
The successful applicant will support the organisation of SLU:s long-term field experiment database. Information on the long-term field experiments will be fed into SLU:s and EJP SOIL:s databases, which are continuously updated. Furthermore, the researcher will be involved in synthesis work performed annually within the EJP SOIL. Specifically, WP7 (Synthesis and knowledge integration – access to infrastructure) synthesizes and integrates outputs on EJP SOIL:s projects and creates a feedback loop to EJP SOIL’s roadmap. In addition, the program compiles information on existing laboratory facilities and long-term experimental sites dealing with agricultural soils and organizes access to agricultural soil research infrastructures. The researcher will be involved in frequent meetings with other researchers and will work in a team of SLU colleagues involved in the EJP SOIL program.

The Department of Soil & Environment conducts research, environmental monitoring & assessment and higher education for sustainable soil management in agriculture, forestry and urban environments. Outcomes are aligned to and contribute towards national and international strategies on food security, national environmental objectives and climate reporting as well as the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The majority of the department’s activities and employees are located in the Soil-Water-Environment building on the SLU Ultuna campus in Uppsala, and there is a research group and a field research station situated in Skara.
