Qualification Details

Ideal candidates will have a background in human medicine, biomedicine, or equivalent and an interest in technology-oriented work in the field of diagnostic imaging.Versatility and enthusiasm for experimentation, programming, and statistical calculations are highly valued.Strong written and spoken English, including scientific writing and willingness to travel to individual field assignments and conferences, complete the profile.

Responsibilities/Job Description

As a Paleopathology and Mummy Studies Group member, you will support our different ongoing and future research projects.Project tasks range from developing novel experimental imaging equipment and methods, to applying portable X-ray units in the field, diagnostic evaluation of imaging data, statistical analyses of results, or writing scientific articles.

The Institute for Evolutionary Medicine (IEM) is a leading international and globally connected research, teaching, and service institute within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Zurich. We study ancient biological materials and related data to better understand modern health issues and diseases. We address various specific research questions in the context of evolutionary medicine by applying multiple scientific specializations and state-of-the-art methodologies.The IEM's Paleopathology and Mummy Studies Group investigates the application of novel diagnostic imaging and image processing methods for paleopathology research and how to adapt established diagnostic imaging methods to our specific requirements.
