Qualification Details

The position requires a master’s degree or a foreign degree that is equivalent to a master in machine learning, artificial intelligence, computer science or mathematics.

A requirement is documented knowledge and experience in artificial intelligence preferably one or more of the following areas within AI: machine learning, deep learning, generative adversarial methods, and privacy-preserving machine leaning. Fluency in spoken and written English is a requirement.

Responsibilities/Job Description

A research assistant will essentially carry out research. The position may also involve teaching, but not more than 20% of the time.

The primary focus of the research assistant is to help us do research on new generative adversarial network (GAN) time-series models that are more privacy preserving and less biased. We are currently mostly applying the research on collaborative autonomous systems or trajectory data such as movement data from large public transportation systems, but other application domains are also of interest.

About the Project

The division of Artificial Intelligence and Integrated Computer Systems (AIICS) is highly regarded for its research in many areas of artificial intelligence with a history dating back to the 70s and the seminal work of Erik Sandewall. The research profile of AIICS includes knowledge representation, stream reasoning, planning, machine learning and their integration and application in collaborative intelligent autonomous systems such as collaborative unmanned aircraft systems.

We are now looking for a research assistant to help us do research in the intersection of reasoning and learning together with Associate Professor Fredrik Heintz and his group within AIICS. The Reasoning and Learning group do fundamental AI research on algorithms, techniques and methods for machine reasoning, machine learning, and the integration of reasoning and learning. We are especially interested in incremental reasoning and learning such as a stream reasoning and learning, spatio-temporal reasoning and learning such as learning and reasoning about trajectories and events/activities, multi-agent reasoning and learning such as combinatorial assignment and multi-agent reinforcement learning, and reasoning and learning for Trustworthy AI such as privacy-preserving synthetic data generation and run-time verification for safe autonomous systems.
