Qualification Details

Formal qualifications

We are looking for a candidate that fulfils the following qualifications:

  • PhD degree in computer science, data science, business analytics or the like.
  • Strong skills in quantitative methods in general.
  • Skills within some of the following areas: data structures, algorithms, data engineering, artificial intelligence, machine learning, databases, data mining, computer graphics and visualisation, image-, sound-, and text recognition/processing.
  • Strong programming skills.
  • Competence within business and economics is desirable.
  • Documented practical-pedagogical education and experience, preferably aimed at higher education, cf. Regulations on employment and promotion in teaching and research positions. Applicants who cannot document pedagogical competence during employment are obliged to complete INN University's course in university college pedagogy or equivalent within two years from the date of appointment.

Language skills: English oral and written. Knowledge of a Scandinavian language is desirable.

Personal skills:

  • We seek a candidate with the ability to work independently and purposefully, but who can also cooperate and be in charge of teaching- and research tasks.
  • The final assessment will emphasise good communication skills, both orally and in writing.

The assessment of which candidate is best qualified for the position is made after a comprehensive evaluation of education, experience and personal compatibility and other qualification requirements as formulated in the vacancy text, as well as motivation for the position.

Responsibilities/Job Description

The faculty has recently introduced a new M.Sc. program with a major in Business Analytics.

Responsibilities and tasks

The successful candidate will participate in a growing research environment with state-of-the-art knowledge on quantitative research within topics relevant to our PhD and M.Sc programs. We require the candidate to teach in the master’s programme, in courses such as “Data Engineering”, “Machine Learning”, “Programming”, etc. Supervising master- and PhD students will also be a part of the position. We expect the right candidate to be a vital part of a growing and dynamic research group.

Relevant competence includes information systems, data engineering, database architectures, and advanced data management. We are looking for candidates with comprehensive knowledge about predictive analytics and machine learning techniques. Experience with business optimisation and computer based simulation is desired. We also look for candidates with skills in (real-time) visualisation (e.g., dashboards) and automated decision support tools and methods.

The position is permanent and is located in Lillehammer.
