Responsibilities/Job Description

Candidates working in any area of visualization may apply, including visual analytics, information visualization, and medical and scientific visualization. However, we particularly encourage candidates that research information visualization to apply. Relevant topics in that area include visual encoding of data, interactions with data, graphical perception, combinations of machine learning and visualization, evaluations of visualizations, visualization in different modalities, domain-specific applications of visualization, and visualization for data science.

The professor will be associated with the section on Human-Centered Computing, comprising seven faculty working on HCI, CSCW, psychology, haptics, and human-centered AI. The ideal candidate would have synergy with existing research in the department on other topics, including Machine Learning, Data Science, and Simulation. The department offers a master-level course on visualization that the professor could recruit students from and has planned faculty positions on visualization that the professor may help shape.
