Responsibilities/Job Description

You will develop the department’s competences in multiscale and in-operando characterization of energy materials, and you deliver top-level research and teaching within this area. You are a leading scientist in the use of multiscale imaging and structural analysis of materials, bridging multiple length scales, and in correlating the results to the performances of energy materials, components, and devices.

You are deeply interested in the development of competences and technologies, and the interplay between materials compositions and microstructures, and their use and operation as materials for energy purposes. You implement ideas and collaborate across disciplines when you demonstrate good research management. Dissemination of the research, scientifically and in the public domain, is an important responsibility. Your contribution to teaching and supervision of PhD, MSc, and BSc students as well as of young scientists, is at a high level, and be inspirational to students and colleagues.

You will contribute significantly to our vision of demonstrating cross-disciplinary, world-leading research to enable a sustainable society through innovative technology development, and to our aim to deliver outstanding education. You will take advantage of close collaboration with colleagues within the department as well as other DTU departments. You are able to attract external funding from public and private sources, and to deliver excellent results.

You have demonstrated top-level and original scientific research in multiscale and in-operando materials and component characterization, and in at least one of the Department’s main technological research areas, such as electrolysis, fuel cells, batteries, thermal energy storage, and energy systems. You have successfully been heading research groups, winning research projects, including successful results and management. You have preferably already established strategic relations to large facilities, such as, e.g., MaxIV and ESS. Successful collaboration with industry is also a prerequisite. You must appreciate teaching and be recognized as a lecturer that provides inspiring teaching at BSc and MSc level, and in the supervision of PhDs and postdocs.

You will be expected to teach in Danish after 3 years. DTU can provide Danish language courses.

You will be assessed against the responsibilities and qualifications stated above and the following general criteria:

DTU Energy has a major focus on the green transition, in particular the development of materials, components, devices, and systems for new and improved sustainable energy technologies for energy conversion and storage.
