Qualification Details

You are expected to take a lead role in teaching at the BEng, BSc, MSc and PhD levels. International candidates are expected to learn Danish and be able to teach in Danish after 3 years. DTU can provide Danish language courses.You will be assessed against the responsibilities and qualifications stated above and the following general criteria:

Responsibilities/Job Description

You will take leadership in consolidating and expanding the leading position of the section within human genomics and personalized medicine by continued development of novel methods suitable for analysis of complex and heterogeneous clinical and genomic data, and extending collaborations with healthcare stakeholders both outside and within DTU. You are expected to have performed high-profile research and to have in-depth knowledge and experience with methods development and machine learning within health-related genomics analysis.In your position as Head of Section, you will take on a strong leadership role in establishing a shared scientific profile across the section and positioning the section as a the ‘go to’ location when seeking solutions to health-related bioinformatics and data analysis problems. Further, you will lead initiatives with national and international funding agencies seeking to establish dedicated funding opportunities within health informatics.

About the Project

Bioinformatical analysis of health-related data is a key component in biomedical research today, and plays an important role in personalized medicine and product development with the aim of improving public health. The Bioinformatics section at the Department of Health Technology has a strong position in the field of health-related bioinformatics with a focus on the application of bioinformatics to solve biomedical problems, and on development of data mining and data analysis methods within life science. The section has extensive international and national academic, industrial, and clinical collaborations. Research and teaching activities at the section cover immunoinformatics, cancer systems biology, single-cell omics, metagenomics, phylogenetics, ancient DNA, Bayesian statistical modelling, disease genomics, and machine learning.As Head of Section and Professor in Health Bioinformatics and Personalized Medicine you will have the opportunity to help develop the overall scientific profile and further grow the section.
