Qualification Details
The successful applicant should have a PhD in mathematical statistics, statistics, or medicine and experience from working with observational register-based research that enables the candidate to work independently in projects. Knowledge in statistical software, e.g., Stata or R, is a requirement. Previous experience from statistical methods development projects is a strong merit.
Excellent knowledge of spoken and written scientific English and strong presentation skills are essential. Teaching experience is a merit. In the assessment of the candidates, we place particular emphasis on interpersonal skills.
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
Responsibilities/Job Description
The candidate will join a research team of statisticians, oncologists, and hematologists who perform studies that aim to increase the understanding of lymphoma survival and survivorship issues.
We are now expanding our research group, and are looking for a post-doctoral researcher who can work on developing and implementing novel statistical methods for epidemiologic modelling of cancer patient survival. The position is focused on methods development within survival analysis and multistate models with clinical applications in register-based lymphoma research.

About the Department
We are now looking for a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher to join our cancer epidemiology group, to work on statistical methodology development and applied research in the field of population-based cancer patient survival analysis.
The Department of Medicine Solna is one of the largest departments at Karolinska Institutet and is organized in several research divisions. The Clinical Epidemiology Division is home to six research groups that conduct research in population-based epidemiology through the use of register-based health care data, often supplemented with information from medical records, biological samples, and surveys, to address questions that aim to improve patient health care and clinical practice. The projects conducted at the division typically have a strong clinical anchoring.
