About the Division

Maria G. Masucci research group

Our research aims to elucidate how viral products mimic or hijack key cellular functions in order to promote virus persistence and spread, and to understand how these viral strategies may lead to malignant transformation. We particularly focus on signaling pathways that are regulated by post-translational modification by ubiquitin, SUMO and NEDD8. The ultimate goal of our research is to identify new regulatory interactions that may be targeted to control virus infection and its potentially life-threatening consequences. The project will investigate the molecular events that underlie the association between latent and productive viral infection and the regulation of autophagy.
