Qualification Details

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent. You should have a background in cellular immunology and interest in cancer-associated fibroblasts, ideally with first author publications in recognized peer-reviewed journals. Experience with multi-color flow cytometry and related software packages is a prerequisite. Hands-on experience in fluorescence microscopy, cell culture, cell isolation from human tissues and insights into digital pathology analyses is meriting for the position. Excellent proficiency in both spoken and written English is required. As a person we want you to be passionate and have the ability to actively contribute to the team in Helen Kaipe research group. You have the ambition to teach and establish your own academic group over time.

Responsibilities/Job Description

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic postdoctoral fellow with an interest in tumour immunology and cancer-associated fibroblasts. The primary focus will be to investigate the interaction between T cells and cancer-associated fibroblasts in pancreatic cancer. You will work with a wide range of immunological techniques such as multicolor flow cytometry, multiplex protein analysis and fluorescence microscopy. In vitro cell cultures and 3D models will be used to investigate immune cell responses and migration.

  • Work on existing projects
  • Independently plan and implement own projects
  • Coordination of students' work in the laboratory
  • Writing scientific papers for publication

The position is for two years.

The Department of Laboratory of Medicine, located in Campus Flemingsberg, is one of the Karolinska Institute’s largest departments with seven research divisions. The Division of Biomolecular and Cellular Medicine (BCM) investigates immune cells in cancer, with a specific focus on interactions between T cells and cancer-associated fibroblasts in the tumor microenvironment. The laboratory is located in the new research facility, which provides all the equipment and infrastructure needed for cellular and molecular biology research. A postdoctoral position is now available at BCM.
