Qualification Details

Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent by the start of the appointment. Flexibility and self-motivation are desired skills at DTU, and a natural interest in collaboration and personal responsibility.

Responsibilities/Job Description

The new postdoctoral researcher will primarily work on Venus science and the characterisation of terrestrial extrasolar planets. The successful applicant is expected to have research experience in planetary sciences (e.g., planetary atmospheres and/or interiors). During the 3-year appointment, the successful applicant will contribute to the ESA EnVision mission science and will also be able to conduct his/her/their independent research, increasing the group's model expertise. The start date is flexible but expected to be in the fall of 2022.

The Exoplanet Group focuses on understanding and characterising planets, with emphasis on the abundant small exoplanets ranging from Earth-size to Neptune-size. The group also works on Solar System science and is currently involved in projects focused on the climate of Venus, Mars and early Earth.

About the Department

The Institute has about 145 employees, an annual turn-over of about 140 MDKK and it is located at the Lyngby Campus of the Technical University of Denmark together with 19 other institutes within the technical sciences. In the Astrophysics and Atmospheric Division, current focus areas cover exoplanets, large-scale structure of the universe, physics of compact objects, space weather, upper atmosphere physics and cosmo-climatology as well as development of instrumentation, in particular high-energy instrumentation, i.e. X- and gamma ray detectors and -optics. The division is currently active in operation of instruments on and data analysis from three satellites. The division also runs four instrumentation laboratories and hosts a center for space weather research and forecasts.
