Qualification Details

Essential expertise includes:

  • A Master degree in chemical engineering or similar
  • A PhD degree in a relevant field
  • Knowledge of conventional CO2 capture technologies
  • Structured approach to laboratory work
  • Attention to detail in reporting
  • Ability to self-manage and work independently as well as ability to plan and execute complex tasks and to engage constructively in a large, international and cross-disciplinary environment.
  • Good English communication skills, oral and written.

Responsibilities/Job Description

Are you looking to dive into the world of CO2 capture and PtX, and do you enjoy experimenting in the laboratory? Then seize this opportunity to do a postdoc within electrochemical CO2 capture.Conventional CO2 capture technologies are very energy intensive, requiring large amounts of green energy to contribute to a net-zero scenario. A new, more energy efficient candidate technology is that of electrochemical cell assisted CO2 capture. We are working on the cutting edge with this at DTU Kemiteknik (AT-CERE), and we need a postdoc to accelerate this development further.


Your primary aim will be to improve the energy efficiency and robustness of our in-house CO2 capture laboratory setup. This will require laboratory setup adjustments, structured laboratory experiments and data analysis. You will work closely together with talented team members of researchers and technicians, all focused on the same goal as you.Your work will be part of the international Horizon 2020 project ConsenCUS, which is tasked with demonstrating electrochemical CO2 capture and utilization at three European industrial sites.Primary areas of responsibility:

  • Literature reviews of electrochemical cell chemistry and membrane technology
  • Defining and executing experiments on our electrochemical laboratory setup
  • Participation in expert group
  • Data analysis and reporting

Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 1 year. The starting date is according to mutual agreement.  The workplace is DTU Lyngby Campus, DK, but some months of laboratory work at other test sites in Denmark may be required.You can read more about career paths at DTU here.
