Qualification Details

To qualify as a postdoctoral researcher the applicant should hold a PhD in a relevant subject. Since postdoctoral constitutes a qualifying appointment for junior researchers, we aim to target those who have a doctoral degree not older than 3 years from the application deadline.

We are looking for an ambitious and motivated candidate with a particular interest in neuroscience wet lab experiments. For the appointment, extensive practical laboratory experience is required. Proven skills and knowledge on bioinformatic analysis are meritorious. Other important qualifications are excellent oral, and more importantly, ability to write adequately in English. Further, proven ability to write coherent scientific text with at least one published or submitted manuscript where the applicant is the first author. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Responsibilities/Job Description

Advances in the care of premature infants have meant that more of these babies survive, but the downside to this is that the rates of preterm brain injury such as intracerebral hemorrhage have also increased. We still do not fully understand the etiology of the disease, and there are currently no efficient treatments for these conditions.  The current project will use advanced technologies and material obtained from human tissue biobank, to identify potential targets for the prevention and treatment of intracerebral hemorrhage and perinatal brain injury. The group has extensive and long-standing national and international collaborations, including Harvard Medical school and Kings College London.

The research projects will involve the use of multi-omics approaches, hands-on experimental molecular biological work, writing manuscripts, and presenting at national/international conferences. The position requires to work independently as well as in collaboration with both national and international colleagues in a stimulating academic environment. There will be opportunities to teach and to supervise PhD students and other students.
