Qualification Details
Eligibility
To qualify as a postdoctoral researcher the applicant should hold a PhD in a relevant subject. Since postdoctoral constitutes a qualifying appointment for junior researchers, we aim to target those who have a doctoral degree not older than 3 years.
Assessment criteria
PhD in relevant field with documented experience in adipocyt biology and its cell/molecular biology are requirements. Experience in cell senescence and its molecular biology, its secretarial and molecular mechanisms is a merit as is experience of cell senescence in murina animal models.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability as collaborative skills and documented ability to work independently. Good knowledge of English is required, and knowledge of Swedish is an advantage.
Responsibilities/Job Description
Subject area description
Obesity is the most common cause of Type 2 diabetes and its complications. Our research is focused on understanding changes in the adipose tissue leading to insulin resistance and Type 2 diabetes and the role of cell senescence.
Duties
Isolate, purify and characterize human mesenchymal progenitor cells/preadipocytes. Cell- and organ culture of the cells and determine adipogenic potentials. Characterize mechanisms for development of cell senescence, their secretion of Senescence-Associated Secretory Phenotype (SASPs) together with basic molecular biology of senescent cells. Work with murine animal models will also be included.
