Qualification Details

  • A doctoral degree in a relevant research area, e.g., health economics, public health, nutrition, or another relevant area. Only candidates with an approved doctoral thesis before the application deadline will be considered for the position.
  • Good communication skills in the English language, both verbal and in writing.

Responsibilities/Job Description

The successful candidate will have the main responsibility for the evaluation of health economic effects from the interventions, by 1) assessing health economic effects pertaining to the implementation of the intervention, and 2) assessing health economic long-term effects of early-life nutritional interventions by using data from relevant cohorts and literature search in simulation models.

The Post-doctoral Research Fellow will work actively in multiple phases of the project with responsibility for health economic perspectives and will participate in data collection and project development in the project as a whole. The person will work closely with researchers in the international research front of evaluating long-term effects and societal benefits of early efforts to promote life-long health, development, and well-being.

About the Department

The faculty has four (4) departments: Department of Nutrition and Public Health, Department of Health and Nursing Science, Department of Sport Science and Physical Education and Department of Psychosocial Health. The Post-doctoral position will be affiliated with the Priority Research Centre Lifecourse Nutrition and related to the project “Nutrition Now - Scaling up evidence-based-early-life nutrition interventions for community resilience and lifecourse health”.

Nutrition Now is funded by the Norwegian Research Council and is a collaborative project between, among others, the University of Agder, Arendal municipality and Agder county. Nutrition Now aims to improve nutrition among pregnant women, infants, and the youngest children in the municipality. In the project, we are to adapt and implement previously developed diet and nutritional e-learning resources addressing diet during pregnancy, infancy, and toddlerhood. The project targets preschools, maternity care, health nurses and parents or other care providers for infants and young children. It will evaluate how the e-learning resources are implemented and used in the section for childcare and youth services (health nurses and preschool employees) and by end-users (pregnant women and parents). Further, a cost-effectiveness evaluation of dietary changes will be conducted.

The position is remunerated according to the State Salary Scale, salary plan 17.510, code 1352, NOK 544 400 – 618 600 gross salary per year. Higher salary grades may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants. A compulsory pension contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund is deducted from the pay according to current statutory provisions.
