Qualification Details

The candidate is expected to conduct international-level research and publish in top Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Operations Research or Industrial Engineering venues.  A track record of prior publication in these venues is expected, together with a background in constraint programming, integer programming, meta-heuristics or other combinatorial optimisation techniques.  Experience in implementing algorithmic advances in prototype systems is desired.

The ability to communicate and work with a range of stakeholders is important.  Full professional working fluency in English is required.  Knowledge of German is an advantage.

Responsibilities/Job Description

The Algorithmics group at TU Delft has an opening for a postdoctoral fellow in scheduling and combinatorial optimisation.  This is a one-year position as part of an industrially-funded project, with possibility of extension.

The successful candidate will work closely with faculty members at TU Delft and our industrial partners to define, model and solve challenging, realistic scheduling problems, for which application of existing techniques is unlikely to scale.  Working with Dr Emir Demirović and Dr Neil Yorke-Smith, the candidate will develop novel algorithmic concepts and demonstrate their value on real problems.
