Responsibilities/Job Description

To develop more sustainable mobility alternatives today that are introduced in the future, insight into travelers‘ preferences is essential. A typical research approach in this context is to observe choices travelers make in stated choice experiments from which discrete choice models are estimated. A limitation of this approach is that measurements represent the current preferences of travelers in current contexts, while these are subject to change in the future due to, for example, unforeseen technological development of the innovation and additional information received about, and experience gained with the targeted mobilities. This may pose problems in forecasting, in particular when the introduction and diffusion of innovative sustainable mobilities takes a long period of time. The challenge in this postdoc project is, therefore, to further develop and test experiments and choice models that are better equipped to take dynamics in preferences and circumstances into account, with the aim to improve prediction under different scenarios. The post-doc will take part in the ‘On the move’ research program together with a dynamic team of researchers from Delft University of Technology and Radboud University, and will be supervised by dr. E. Molin (DUT) and prof. H. Meurs (RU).
