Qualification Details

Candidates should have experience in electron microscopy with a background in physics, electrical engineering, materials sciences, life sciences or related disciplines. The project will involve high-resolution cryo-EM data collection and developing methods to control and optimize the RF cavity and beam geometry. Good proficiency in English is required.

Responsibilities/Job Description

Our laboratory seeks to improve the signal to noise ratio of cryo-EM data collection. We will utilize a Titan Krios equipped with a RF cavity below the cold-FEG in order to produce an electron beam that consists of single electrons at GHz repetition rate. We will explore different operation parameters of the instrument, in order to identify conditions to optimize the SNR of recorded data on the FalconIV detector as a function of beam damage. The instrument will also be equipped with a Probe Cs corrector and a very high-speed hybrid pixel detector camera, allowing diffractive imaging approaches.
