Qualification Details

Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent in disciplines like chemical engineering, chemistry, or petroleum engineering. The candidate should have experience with high-pressure experiment. Experience with high-pressure equilibrium measurement and high-pressure equipment design is an advantage.

Assessment

In the assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to

  • scientific production and research potential at international level
  • innovative skills and the ability to generate new ideas
  • the ability to communicate at all levels such as the provision of scientific advice to public sector authorities
  • an all-round experience basis, preferably including international experience
  • the ability to contribute to development of internal and external cooperation

Responsibilities/Job Description

The major responsibility of the postdoc is to carry out experimental studies within the field of geological CO2 storage, including the measurement of fundamental CO2-brine equilibrium data, such as CO2 solubility in brine and the density and viscosity of brine with dissolved CO2, and the study of chalk reactivity under CO2 sequestration. The postdoc is supposed to interact with other colleagues in the group working on other experimental and modelling studies of geological CO2 storage. The postdoc will also work on relevant modelling and data interpretation in collaboration with others in the group.

About the Project

CERE is a cross-departmental centre (www.cere.dtu.dk), and the CERE group at DTU Chemistry is focused on high-pressure phase behaviour and other critical issues related to oil and gas production, petroleum processing, and carbon dioxide sequestration. The research activities at CERE, DTU Chemistry mainly involve experimental measurement and modelling of phase equilibrium and thermophysical properties at high pressure and development of efficient phase equilibrium calculation algorithms for compositional simulations.
