Qualification Details

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate who has an PhD in agriculture, biology, biochemistry, technology, plant breeding or other types of education, preferably with a plant protein/materials component in the curricula. The PhD should be obtained within the last three years. Experience with the chemical modification of proteins or other natural products is an asset. Candidates should have a sound understanding of agriculture, biology and/or green technology. The candidate should be able to work well independently as well as to collaborate in groups and have good overall communication skills, including the ability to communicate and write well in English.

Responsibilities/Job Description

To increase sustainability in the use of plant resources, as well as contributing to a reduction of climate change, this project aims at novel uses of green biomass from agricultural/horticultural crops. The overall objective is to use green residual biomass from agricultural production systems for the development of superabsorbents suitable for various applications. The main emphasis of this project will be to develop suitable and sustainable protein fractionation methods of green biomass for use  in multiple products and purposes. For protein rich fractions, opportunities to develop superabsorbents will be further evaluated. Furthermore, the processes and products will be evaluated for economically feasible and sustainable production pathways from residual green agricultural biomass.
