Qualification Details

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). Your PhD is in chemistry, physics, materials science or a similar field. Previous postdoc experience is preferred.

You have a comprehensive understanding of heterogeneous and/or electro-catalysis. You have extensive experience in density functional theory calculations and preferably with kinetic analysis and machine learning methods. Namely, experience with OER kinetic modelling and ORR calculations will be beneficial. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator in both written and spoken English, is independent and can lead a project from start to finish, and enjoys collaborating closely with others from diverse backgrounds as well as supporting more junior group members.

Responsibilities/Job Description

One postdoc position is available in the Catalysis Theory Center in the Physics Department of the Technical University of Denmark. The Center comprises three research groups, all motivated by the shared vision of sustainable energy conversion and storage based on catalysis.  We offer a positive, supportive and international research environment, and we value diversity, creativity, personal growth, and impact.

The Catalysis and Materials Theory group is focused on the development of an understanding of materials properties in general, and catalysts in particular, on the basis electronic structure calculations. This includes development of a fundamental understanding of chemical processes at the gas-solid and liquid-solid interface as well as chemical conversion processes with special emphasis on sustainable production of fuels and chemicals.

The successful candidates will be working on theoretical method development and computational catalyst discovery for heterogeneous reactions for H2O, CO2 and N2 reduction. You will be working in close collaboration with other group members from a variety of backgrounds. The position also involves close collaboration with experimentalists.
