Qualification Details

A PhD in molecular biology/genetics or similar and experience with plant tissue culture and Agrobacterium mediated plant transformation is expected.

Responsibilities/Job Description

The postdoc will maintain an Agrobacterium based plant transformation platform and collaborate with a group of PhD students and postdocs by generating stable transformants of the model legume Lotus japonicus.

The postdoc will also be responsible for improving the transformation procedures and establish targeted gene inactivation and gene modification using CRISPR.  In addition the postdoc is expected to supervise staff and students in order to optimize the transformation efficiency and provide guidance for the specialized experimental techniques used to obtain transformed plants.

In a separate line of research the postdoc will explore the possibilities for establishing transformation procedures for crop legumes.

About the Project/Department

The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics is part of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Aarhus University and comprises research within the areas of Plant Molecular Biology, Neurobiology, RNA Biology and Innovation, Protein Science, Cellular Health, Intervention and Nutrition. There are currently 75 full time scientific staff and 95 PhD students.The department is responsible for two educations: Molecular Biology and Molecular Medicine with a yearly uptake of 160 students in total.
