Qualification Details

You must hold a PhD in computer science, physics, biomedical engineering, or equivalent academic qualifications to image analysis. Preference will be given to candidates who can document experiences working with 3D imaging data sets, fibre reconstruction methods, and brain tracking methods such as tractography maybe applied in other fields such a diffusion MRI. You are curious about neuroscience and about how to validate your methods, enjoy working as a team within a cross-disciplinary research environment and can work independently. Ability to communicate in English is essential.

The assessment of the applicants will be made by Associate professor Tim Dyrby (PI), Researcher Hans Martin Kjer and Head of section for Visual Computing Anders Bjorholm Dahl.

Responsibilities/Job Description

You will be joining our international research team working on realizing a new optical imaging technique for 3D reconstruction of the rodent brain network at ultra-high image resolution. Our technique uses light-sheet imaging and tissue cleared brains. You will be involved in the acquisition of images, image processing, and analysis of very LARGE datasets. A special focus will be put on the development of algorithms capable of inferring the 3D alignment of the fibers that compose the brain white matter. Additionally, mathematical streamline methods will be used to reconstruct the whole white matter brain network. Finally, validation of the methods will be carried out by combining different 3D imaging modalities such as synchrotron imaging and diffusion MRI.
