Responsibilities/Job Description

We are searching for a PhD candidate for an exciting and high-impact research project to develop new bioanalytical methods using LC-MS/MS for the determination of drugs mainly against the neglected tropical disease leishmaniasis. The activities will entail amongst others the development of bioanalytical assays for novel oral new chemical entities (small molecules) against cutaneous leishmaniasis to assess target-site pharmacokinetics, including skin tissue and skin microdialysis, in Leishmania infection models, as well as the development of less invasive sampling methods that can be used in resource-poor settings. The project is part of an international collaboration on translational drug development for cutaneous leishmaniasis. The research will be executed within the Bioanalytical Laboratory of the Pharmacy of the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek hospital (AVL) and will be in part performed in collaboration with the non-profit organization Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi).
