Qualification Details

  • Candidates should have a strong background in Operations Research, Operations Manage-ment, Industrial Engineering, (Applied) Mathematics, or a related quantitative field
  • The PhD student candidates should have or be close to completing a master's degree
  • Solid knowledge of optimization techniques and/or stochastic processes
  • Good programming knowledge and skills
  • Strong motivation for scientific research and teaching
  • Good organizational and communication skills
  • Reliable team players
  • Advanced English language skills

Responsibilities/Job Description

The Chair of Mathematics for Business and Economics focuses on the optimization of stochastic dynamic systems, in particular via Markov decision processes using approximate dynamic programming. Applications can be from any area of operations management, but our main interests are revenue management and sports.

  • Developing, managing, and publishing research projects
  • (Assisting in) teaching activities
  • Supervision of Bachelor or Master theses
