You have graduated at Master’s level in computer science, software engineering, or information technology or completed courses with a minimum of 240 credits, at least 60 of which must be in advanced courses. Alternatively, you have gained essentially corresponding knowledge in another way.

A doctoral student is expected to be curious, enterprising, and be able to work independently. The work within Software Center requires a good ability to communicate in English in speech and writing. Proficiency in programming in different languages and environments is a requirement. Experience from working in the commercial or the public sector is a merit.

The applicant is expected to learn professional communication in Swedish within two years after the appointment to the position.

Responsibilities/Job Description

Your work assignments

As a doctoral student, you devote most of your time to doctoral studies and the research projects of which you are part. Your work may also include teaching or other departmental duties, up to a maximum of 20% of full-time.

The research is conducted in collaboration with the companies and universities that are part of the research consortium Software Center and focuses on optimizing and further developing technologies, tools, and methods for testing and continuous integration of large cyber-physical systems. The software of such systems consists of both traditional real-time and information systems as well as autonomous systems realized with machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies. The test environments for the systems are in themselves complex systems and are also the focus of research.

Your workplace

The subject area in Computer Science includes both applied and theoretical research. The Laboratory of Programming Environments (PELAB) conducts, among other areas, research in large-scale software engineering, especially testing and continuous integration in collaboration with the research consortium Software Center.
