Qualification Details

You have graduated at Master’s level, or completed courses with a minimum of 240 credits, at least 60 of which must be in advanced courses, in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field. Alternatively, you have gained essentially corresponding knowledge in another way.

You should also have good communication skills, excellent study results, and sufficient proficiency in oral and written English. A strong background in computer graphics, computer vision, mathematics as well as programming skills are particularly advantageous. The project involves both theoretical and applied work.Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and suitability.

Hereby advertises a position as PhD student in computer graphics and machine learning, formally based at the Division of Media and Information Technology at the Department of Science and Technology at Campus Norrköping.

The position is part of the project __main__: Multi-dimensional Alignment and Integration of Physical and Virtual Worlds, funded by the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP) through the NEST initiative. As a WASP NEST PhD student, you will take part in the WASP curriculum and benefit from its extensive network of other PhD students and senior researchers.

WASP is Sweden’s largest individual research program ever, a major national initiative for strategically motivated basic research, education and faculty recruitment. The program addresses research on artificial intelligence and autonomous systems acting in collaboration with humans, adapting to their environment through sensors, information and knowledge, and forming intelligent systems-of-systems. Your work assignments

This PhD position is focusing on image synthesis and deep learning. We will investigate methods for generation of synthetic data using new augmented reality (AR) techniques and novel neural rendering methods.

As a doctoral student, you devote most of your time to doctoral studies and the research projects of which you are part. Your work may also include teaching or other departmental duties, up to a maximum of 20% of full-time.

Your workplace

You will work in the group for Computer Graphics and Image Processing at the Division for Media and Information Technology at the department for Science and Engineering. The group consists of 20 PhD students, senior researchers and research engineers.

Computer graphics is one of the core research areas within the division for Media and Information Technology at the department For Science and Technology. Research and application topics are found in a range of areas including representation of data for visualization, image based measurements of physical phenomena, algorithms for image synthesis, high dynamic range imaging, and light field imaging.

Terms of employment

When taking up the post, you will be admitted to the program for doctoral studies. More information about the doctoral studies at each faculty is available at.

The employment has a duration of four years’ full-time equivalent. You will initially be employed for a period of one year. The employment will subsequently be renewed for periods of maximum duration two years, depending on your progress through the study plan. The employment may be extended up to a maximum of five years, based on the amount of teaching and departmental duties you have carried out. Further extensions can be granted in special circumstances.

Salary and employment benefits

The salary of doctoral students is determined according to a locally negotiated salary progression.
