More information on ongoing research can be found at https://gmessori.eu/. The Ph. D. candidate will work within the frame of G. Messori’s ERC grant: “Compound Climate Extremes in North America and Europe: from Dynamics to Predictability”. By using machine learning approaches, indicators issued from dynamical systems theory and ensemble forecast simulations, the candidate will contribute to quantify extreme event predictability in the medium range in both present and future climates. The candidate will also have the opportunity to engage in teaching/supervising and other duties at the department, which may extend the position at a level of up to 20%.

The PhD student position is a 4-year full time appointment, and the candidate will primarily devote the time to his/her own research studies.
