Qualification Details

You must have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) in chemical or biochemical engineering or related fields, or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree.Furthermore, the ideal candidate should have an interest in software development and preferably have experience with software tools such as Matlab-Simulink and Python. Hands-on experience from working with pilot-scale equipment is also an advantage.

Responsibilities/Job Description

Our research in the center has focus on process systems engineering, on fermentation and downstream processing. Most of our activities are in close collaboration with industry and other academic partners.The position is part of a digitalization initiative at DTU (DTU Chemical and Biochemical Engineering). The PhD student will be working closely together with other students working on related topics.

Responsibilities

The focus of this PhD position is on development of advanced downstream processing involving digitalization. More specifically, the candidate is expected to:

  • Develop and validate mathematical models for different unit operations.
  • Investigate plant-wide aspects related to interactions between different unit operations, for example in terms of process control related aspects.
  • Integrate systematic data handling, knowledge transfer across scales / projects / products, process optimization, real-time monitoring, control, and predictive maintenance.

Salary and appointment terms

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
