Qualification Details

  • An MSc degree in Plant Sciences, Plant Biology or a related discipline;
  • Proven experience with physiological research on whole plants and/or crops
  • Proven experience with setting up and conducting experiments with crops in climate rooms
  • A proven ability to think conceptually;
  • You are a problem solver and a result-driven team player with creative ideas
  • You are strong in project management
  • You have excellent communication skills and you like to communicate with stake holders
  • You have a very good proficiency in English (both oral and written).

Responsibilities/Job Description

The chair group Horticulture and Product Physiology of Wageningen University & Research (WUR) is offering a PhD position which is the opportunity you are looking for. This PhD position should start 1 March 2022.

You will conduct experiments in climate controlled rooms aiming to increase our understanding of physiological responses of medicinal crops to environmental conditions in order to improve production and accumulation of medicinal compounds.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will receive a fully funded PhD position and you will be offered a course program tailored to your needs and the research team.The gross salary for the first year is € 2.434,- per month rising to € 3.111,- in the fourth year in according to the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale P). This is based on a full-time working week of 38 hours. We offer a temporary contract for 12 months which will be extended for the duration of the project if you perform well.There are plenty of options for personal initiative in a learning environment, and we provide excellent training opportunities.
