Qualification Details

We are looking for a highly motivated PhD candidate with good communicative skills. You work independently and accurately and you take responsibility for your findings. In addition, you are a team player who likes to work in a social environment and have the capacity to work under pressure when needed. Although you are part of an international consortium with milestones and deliverables, the project is in its initiation phase for which a creative and flexible mind and working attitude is required.Furthermore, you recognize yourself in the profile below:

  • MSc degree in Pharmacy, Molecular life sciences, Biomedical sciences, Biotechnology or any comparable science.
  • Experience with data analysis and/or programming, skills in R and NONMEM are specifically valuable.

Responsibilities/Job Description

As PhD candidate you will be part of the Pharmacology and Pharmacogenomics work package. You will support development of novel anti-tuberculosis drug regimens through application of pharmacometric modelling. Will you join our team?

  • Contribute to the design of upcoming anti-tuberculosis drug studies by performing clinical trial simulations, selecting optimal timing of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic assessments and estimating sample sizes.
  • Develop population pharmacokinetic models, evaluate drug-drug interactions and perform exposure-response analyses on data from phase II clinical trials of novel anti-tuberculosis regimens.
  • Perform predictions of site-of-disease drug exposures by integrating pre-clinical and clinical data in nonlinear mixed-effects models.

About the Department/Section/Group

The research team within the department of Pharmacy encompasses 3 professors, 1 associate professor, 6 researchers, and many PhD candidates and hospital pharmacy trainees. The position will be embedded in the Radboud Applied Pharmacometrics group and research group Pharmacology of anti-tuberculosis drugs, led by professor Rob Aarnoutse.

UNITE4TB

This position is embedded in the large international UNITE4TB research consortium. It is financed by the EU and has partners in Europe, Africa, Asia and South America. Collaboratively, a series of drug studies are being set up to combat tuberculosis. Every year, tuberculosis affects 10 million people, of whom more than 1.5 million die. Radboudumc is the coordinating body for UNITE4TB.
