Qualification Details

You have a masters degree (or equivalent) in health economics or health services research. You have excellent skills in data analytics and cost-effectiveness modelling. Futhermore you have good skills in communication and moderating group discussions.In addition you possess the profile below:

  • Fluent in Dutch and English (spoken and written).
  • Ability and willingness to acquire new skills for research and education.
  • Ability and willingness to work in interdisciplinary and international teams.

Responsibilities/Job Description

For the European Commission funded Horizon Europe project DELIVER (DELiberative ImproVEment of oRal care quality), we seek to appoint a PhD student in Health Economics (fulltime, part-time possible) to carry out innovative health economics research to improve the quality of oral healthcare in EU countries.

The work conducted will be in close collaboration with academic partners and collaborators from several EU countries. The position particularly involves the conduct of case studies on quality-oriented resource allocation in the Netherlands together with health policymakers, oral care professionals, citizens/patients, and payors.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Conduct research regarding the current EU policymaking situation for oral care quality, case studies on deliberative methods for quality-oriented resource allocation for oral healthcare (Program Budgeting Marginal Analysis), and a realist synthesis on provider payment reform for oral healthcare in EU countries.
  • Liaise with and coordinate collaboration with other consortium members of the EU DELIVER project.
  • Participate in and facilitate regular project meetings.
  • Support the Chair for Quality and Safety of Oral Health Care in all scientific, educational, and administrative matters.
  • Preparation of research results in the form of publications in international journals as well as presentations at national and international conferences.
  • Willingness to write grant proposals.

The Chair for Quality and Safety of Oral Health Care is at the forefront of leveraging improvement science, health economics, and multi-disciplinary research methods to enable access to good quality oral care without causing financial hardship. The team carries out its activities in national and international research collaborations together with citizens, patients, oral and health care professionals, health care payors, and health policy makers.
