Qualification Details

We seek a highly motivated candidate who is excited about computational models and statistical tools and its applications in clinical medicine. The ideal candidate is collaborative and creative, has strong programming skills and is willing to work in a multinational team. The candidate must be able to handle multiple sub-projects and tasks at the same time and have demonstrated ability to deliver data and results according to set time-lines. Experience with analysis of proteomic or genomic data is a requirement for this position. We are looking for an individual who is excited about developing and using computational methods to answer specific hypotheses in medicine.

Qualification requirements

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in bioinformatics, computational biology, informatics, biostatistics or a related field
  • Foreign completed degree (Ph.D-level) has to correspond to a minimum of four years in the Norwegian educational system. Applicants who do not have a degree yet, but who are expecting to graduate this summer/fall can apply to this position.
  • Applicants with a background in biology or (bio)medicine with a strong programming background and experience in `omics data analysis are also encouraged to apply.
  • Experience with (or interest in) analysis of proteomic and genomics data, including data from high-throughput sequencing techniques.
  • Knowledge of statistical data analysis and/or machine learning, including the use of R
  • Proficiency in programming (preferably Python)
  • Proficiency in UNIX/Linux and Bash/Shell scripting
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities/Job Description

The group is a world leading group in research on cardiovascular biomarkers. Scientific contributions from the group are highly cited and integrated in clinical practice worldwide. The methodology used in the group ranges from translational research to clinical and epidemiological studies.

The postdoctoral candidate in the current project will perform advanced statistical analyses on data generated by unbiased proteomic measurements. The candidate will also analyze data from other projects using standard statistical methods.
