Qualification Details
We are looking for an ambitious master student, who enjoys experimenting in chemical lab. You will complete your degree project in the field of chemical engineering or biotechnology during the end of 2022. Knowledge of biotechnology, pulping processes and lignocellulosic materials is desirable.
We hope that you can start as soon as possible, but at the latest in august.
Responsibilities/Job Description
Different lignocellulosic materials are a renewable fiber source for many applications like paper, bioplastics, textiles, etc. The main pulping process for converting the lignocellulosic materials to pulp is the kraft process. Enzymatic treatment step can be applied for boosting the pulping and for a reduction of the pulping chemicals. The industrial application of enzymes for pulping can be limited by different factors. Since the enzymatic treatment is considered an environmental friendly process, there is continuous interest to improve it further and overcome its current limitations.
Thesis Description The objective is to evaluate different process factors on the enzymatic treatment of pulp. The approach is to perform some laboratory trials and simulations, demonstrating different conditions in the enzymatic treatment stages that are typical in pulping processes and characterize the obtained pulps.
